Luggage & Packing for the Train
One of the highlights of the journey will be traveling through Italy aboard the La Dolce Vita Orient Express, a beautifully restored train designed for an intimate and luxurious experience. Due to the historic design of the cabins, luggage space onboard is limited, so we kindly ask guests to bring one carry-on suitcase and one suit bag per person (maximum size: 55 × 40 × 20 cm). Larger luggage will be transported separately from Rome by the event team and delivered directly to your room at Borgo Santo Pietro.
For the journey itself, we recommend packing a small bag with personal essentials such as medications, toiletries, sleepwear, and travel documents. All luggage transfers will be seamlessly coordinated, allowing you to fully relax and enjoy the experience of traveling through Italy by train.
Train Cabins & Services
Each cabin aboard the train features its own private en suite bathroom, offering both comfort and privacy throughout the journey. To make packing easier, laundry and pressing services will be available along the way. Garments can be refreshed during the train ride, while at Borgo Santo Pietro, full laundry and pressing services are provided through the hotel concierge.
Packing & Attire
To help you prepare for each experience, we’ve created a series of mood boards reflecting the style and atmosphere of the journey from exploring historic cities to relaxed afternoons in the Tuscan countryside and celebratory evenings together.
We recommend bringing comfortable shoes suitable for cobblestone streets, light and breathable clothing for warm daytime temperatures, and a light jacket or wrap for cooler evenings. Swimwear is also encouraged for enjoying the pool and gardens at Borgo Santo Pietro. For more detailed outfit inspiration, please refer to the attire mood boards.
Tuscany Activities
During your stay at Borgo Santo Pietro, a variety of optional daily activities will be available, allowing you to experience the beauty of the Tuscan countryside at your own pace. These may include outdoor and wellness-oriented options such as hiking, cycling, or gym sessions. Further details will be shared closer to the trip, but you may wish to pack with these possibilities in mind.
Practical Information
Italy uses the Euro (€), and while credit cards are widely accepted, carrying a small amount of cash can be helpful for smaller shops and local markets. Electricity is supplied via Type C, F, and L outlets (230V), and adapters will be provided, so there is no need to bring your own.
Historic cities such as Rome and Venice are best explored on foot, often across cobblestone streets, making comfortable footwear essential. For connectivity, most U.S. carriers offer international plans, so we recommend checking with your provider prior to departure.
